Olympic Hotel – Adults Only

The front desk was amazing, and for about the same cost this was better than hostels I’ve stayed in. If you’re comparing it with a hostel, you’ll be impressed, though it may disappoint if you expect luxury. I wish I’d stayed longer. The private room had working air conditioning and comfy pillows. The toilet flush is a bit odd, and you need a bucket of water to help it along. There’s no shower curtain, and the TV doesn’t work.

We were there for one night as a couple after flying in from Asia. They wanted another 25 euros for early check-in, so we skipped that. The frosted glass makes the hotel entrance hard to see, and the staff weren’t very friendly and couldn’t find our booking. The room was small, though the mirror covering the wall opposite the bed made it feel bigger. The bathroom was tiny; the shower head had no holder, so you have to hold it, and water escaped the tray and spread across the floor by the toilet. In the evening, the lights around the bed and ceiling were all red. A power socket was hanging out of the wall. It’s a long walk to the town centre. Could be better.

The reception was amazing, and the room was really good for the price. We arrived by bus from the airport in the early hours, and its stop is about a five-minute walk from the hotel. My one small suggestion would be to add a shower cabin or at least a curtain.

The receptionists were all nice and helpful, but the room had several problems. There were no charging sockets by the bed, and the shower had no curtain. The flush didn’t work properly, so I had to keep pressing it to get water through. The corridors smelled strongly of cigarettes. Also, a double bed made by pushing two single mattresses together wasn’t comfortable.
