The Park Hotel Piraeus

We had a late flight arrival and an early ferry, so we just needed a place to sleep in between. The basic room had a bed, shower, TV, and a small balcony overlooking a cute street. The front desk man was kind and helpful, and the breakfast server was lovely. The breakfast room was nice, and the food was hard boiled egg, toast with jam, yogurt and honey, cereal, and assorted breads. Enough to get us to the ferry. We walked from the bus stop to the hotel and then on to the ferry. There were some homeless people around and the area wasn’t especially well maintained, but that didn’t affect our short stay. We were satisfied with the booking.

There were mosquitoes in the room, and nothing was provided for making tea or coffee or for drinking water. The room itself was OK, but the bathroom was so cramped that the toilet cubicle was hard to fit into. There’s also a sauna in the bathroom that isn’t in use, and the bathtub was odd in a bad way. I pointed out mould on the shower screen to the cleaning lady, who replaced it with a new one. The entrance light didn’t work, so it was hard to find the room’s light switch in the dark. I told reception, but it still hadn’t been fixed two days later. The tax is 5 euro a night, based on the hotel being classed as 3 star, but I don’t consider it a 3 star hotel.

Staff were pleasant and helpful, and the place was generally clean and tidy. The location is handy for the cruise and ferry terminals, with the Metro a short walk away. The balcony room had unattractive views. It seems like an old hotel, and some areas show their age. The bathroom needs updating and maintenance. Lighting in the bathroom and at the room entrance was poor or absent, and the hall lights weren’t working either. They replaced the shower curtain when asked. I’m not sure what was behind the sauna door in our room, but it looked completely outdated. It’s basically a budget hotel, three star at best.

The staff were rude and didn’t respect our privacy. They spoke to us like we were children. The place was dirty, there were roaches, and breakfast was terribly small.
