The room and facilities were okay, but that was completely overshadowed by the lack of care and professionalism. We raised the problem with the hotel the next day and got little more than an apology. We arrived late at night to find we'd been sent the wrong access code. With no reception, we were stuck on a dark street. The emergency contact was through WhatsApp, and it took a considerable time to get a reply. When they finally answered, they sent another incorrect code. We didn't get inside and to bed until after 2am. It was a terrible experience.

We felt safe in the area, which is a short walk from the shopping district and marina. There's also a street with local vendors selling vegetables and fruit. Noise was the main drawback: we heard loud modified cars, motorcycles, honking and racing in the middle of the night, along with loud footsteps from the upstairs neighbors. We were on level two, like level three back home, facing the street, so we were fairly high up. The rooms were clean and had what we needed to feel at home. We booked two rooms, one above the other on separate floors, with the same layout. They looked much like the owner's photos, with small differences that shouldn't affect a stay. Each had a king bed, a closet and drawers, and a bathroom with both rain fall and handheld shower heads. The kitchen had a small two burner stove, sink, mini fridge, utensils, plates, bowls, cups, pots and pans. Our room didn't have the couch or coffee table shown in the photos. We needed extra sleeping space for our family of five. There's a small chair that pulls out to something roughly twin sized, though actually smaller. The kids didn't want to use it because the two sections could slide apart on the hard floor, and they found the uneven, tufted bed hard and uncomfortable. They've slept on bare ground camping and on old hotel pullout sofas, and said this was the worst. That's why I took off a star. The free washer and dryer were a bonus since we were traveling through several countries over a month and wanted to pack less. Drying took about 3 hours, so we'd go for a walk or meal and come back to switch the load. We didn't take room photos before unpacking and the kids settled in. The host offered us a room on a “semi floor” to store our luggage when we arrived early, but we decided to keep it with us. We booked through Chase credit cards’ travel site, which didn't say this was not a hotel. There's no lobby or waiting place if you arrive early, which is inconvenient after a long trip. Communication is only through WhatsApp, so you'll need internet access. Check-in is at 3pm, and they only send entry details once the room is ready. One room was ready at 3, the other at 3:22. There were no emails beforehand with directions, on the day with entry instructions, or during our stay with check-out information. Luckily, I reached out on WhatsApp after finding the number through this Google listing and its link to their website contact page.

There was no front desk, so all communication went through WhatsApp, and nobody was available in person if an issue came up. We didn't get the WiFi password until our last day, and there was no proper handbook or instructions in the room. On the first day I reported that the wooden bed support was broken. I was told someone would fix it the next day, but nobody came. By day two, a sewage smell started coming from the bathroom. I reported that as well, with no resolution. The bright spot was getting extra toilet paper when I asked. I hadn't realized guests are expected to supply their own once the initial roll runs out, and the extra saved me a trip to the store.

There was nobody on site to help, and after a long journey we were told to take another room without being allowed to see it first. The owner said by text that if we accepted it by default, we agreed to leave the first room. We needed mobile data to get the front door and key safe codes, which would have been impossible without it, and lots of people don't have roaming. The first code the owner sent had a typo, delaying our access. The room was dirty and noisy, with mould on the shower head. Only half a roll of toilet paper was provided at self check-in, and the owner told me to go to the basement for more. A coffee pod came with no water. There was no hot water when we arrived, and the owner texted that I had to turn on the electricity at the fuse board myself because it had been switched off to save money. The door didn't lock securely. The curtain was hanging off its rail and couldn't fully close, and there was no duvet or comforter, just a top sheet so thin I've seen thicker face masks. In the morning we couldn't leave while housekeeping used the only elevator, and we had 6 pieces of luggage we couldn't send down. Booking this serviced apartment before our cruise was a big mistake. Our usual hotel was fully booked, and this place left a lot to be desired. You get an AirB&B service for a hotel price. Would not recommend.
