Semiramis Piskopiano by Checkin

We booked six months ahead, but the hotel cancelled our accommodation a few days before the trip and wouldn’t refund us for up to six weeks. Because of the late notice, similar accommodation cost us an extra £1500. Several other reviews say the same thing, so this seems to be common practice at this hotel.

The location worked well for us, about 15 minutes from the beaches and close to a town with plenty of clubs and nightlife. The pool was nice, the staff were good, and everything was really clean. The drawbacks were that there was no hairdryer and only a cooker for making your own food.

Piskopiano has plenty of tavernas and little shops, and I liked the compact apartment complex around its central pool. Magners, a fairly elegant cocktail bar, is right beside it and serves as reception. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the WiFi worked reliably. My studio was clean and quiet at night, with a good amount of space, a separate kitchenette, and small windows in both the bedroom and bathroom. I only stayed one night, though I could easily have stayed longer. One caution for drivers: the Semiramis Apartments sign is hard to spot from the road. Piskopiano is busy in August, so parking nearby may be difficult, though I had no trouble finding a spot.

We booked and paid for an apartment through Booking.com in April for our August 4-11 holiday. A week before we were due to arrive, the booking was cancelled, and we still haven't had our money returned. I've tried calling without getting an answer, and my emails have gone unanswered too.
