Aronis Plaka Naxos

I'd avoid this taverna. The shouting, screaming, and dirt were hard to ignore, and our water glasses looked so filthy it felt as if ten other people had each had five drinks from them before us. The older woman was pleasant enough, though it seemed she was trying to set me and my girlfriend up with some friends. We kept the order simple and got Dakos salad, but the bread had been dipped in water instead of olive oil, and the olives were disgusting. A local waiter from another restaurant asked about them and said, “NOooo way you ate there!!!! They are extremely greedy and honestly I’m surprised you are here now and didn t get food poisoning.” He said he'd seen their meat storage and had no words for what was there. I can't vouch for that myself, but after our meal I'd avoid the place at all costs. I don't understand the good reviews, maybe they were paid or something.

At lunchtime the restaurant was empty, and we had to look around for anyone working there. Eventually the owner came out, slurred something in Greek, and a very kind customer, who was the only other person there, translated. The owner apparently wasn't going to serve the menu, just a few dishes because he didn't think there were enough customers. When we tried to find out what the options were, he didn't answer, turned away in a huff, and went back into the kitchen. We thanked the customer and ate down the road. It was a bizarre, uncomfortable experience, and I can't make sense of the positive reviews.

The cooker was having problems, so they couldn't make everything on the menu. The older lady, who looked like a Yaya, spoke a little English and explained what she could cook. We stayed and tried Yaya's bolognese. It was delicious, inexpensive, and lovely. Thanks for the service and hospitality.

I had delicious spaghetti at this cute little family-run place, with an incredible view and lovely hospitality. The family were so kind and accommodating. Their internet was down and I didn't have enough cash, so they let me leave without paying the full amount. I went to an ATM and came back, and they were very grateful. They even offered me ouzo for free, wished me a good trip, and said I was welcome back anytime. They also rent umbrellas and beach chairs across from the restaurant, with the prices on a sign. There were stray cats around. The owner didn't seem bothered by the nice ones, but one mean cat kept hissing at everyone, so he hissed to scare it off. Cats aren't typically allowed in a restaurant, after all. I'm shocked by the bad reviews. I think they're written by miserable people.
