Depis Edem worked really well for our group of seven. We stayed in the three-bedroom villa in early June, and it was spacious and comfortable. There was enough room to eat together, relax, watch TV, play our Switch on the TV, and swim in a nicely sized pool. The kitchen was good enough for us to bring back groceries and cook for all seven of us. The beds were comfortable, the A/C kept up with the summer heat, and the price was very reasonable. We didn’t have to compete for bathroom time, either. Depi and her team were the best part of the stay. They worked hard to clean the villa and pool, arranged transport, and helped with our laundry, which we really appreciated since we had a lot of it. They were accommodating with our requests and made a delicious breakfast every morning at our chosen time. Greek yoghurt with honey, bread, pastries, eggs, and fruit was a great start to the day. The main drawback was the slow wifi, especially on the ground and upper floors. The location also takes some planning if you don’t have a car or a driver. The nearest bus stop and grocery store are a 1.4 km walk, and restaurants are even farther away. We managed the walks during our stay, and Plaka Beach was about 10 minutes on foot. Those distances matter most if you can’t rent a car or arrange a driver each day. Still, we had a really enjoyable time at Depis Edem Luxury Villas, and the staff made our visit to Naxos so pleasant. Thank you!

We stayed at Depis Edem from 20 to 29 July 2024, and I’m sharing what happened so others can make an informed choice. Several things were unacceptable for us. The red villa was advertised as having four bedrooms, but one supposed bedroom was also the kitchen and a passageway for other guests. Another room felt like a cell, with no A/C or wardrobe and only a small window. You also had to walk through another “bedroom” to reach it. After we raised this with Depi, the host, we were moved to another villa that worked for our group, but the change also led to anger and no further cooperation. For a villa meant for 10 people, two pool loungers felt like too few. When we asked for more, Depi said there were two and none could be provided. We mentioned that our neighbors had more, and she replied, “so what, you have 2.” Breakfast was also inadequate for our group of 10: for example, they brought seven or eight eggs, six pieces of bread, and six slices of fruit. The food was basically the same every day. Before the trip, I asked whether nearby renovation work would be noisy. I was told there would be no noise because such work wasn’t allowed in July. That wasn’t true: the noise woke us every day before 8 AM, and the view was really unfortunate. We also asked to check out at 11:30 instead of 11 because we had a prom later, offering to leave the rooms and wait by the pool so we wouldn’t get in the way of cleaning. Depi said no without further discussion. Flexible checkouts are highlighted on their page, but in my opinion they aren’t available there. She didn’t say goodbye, even though we tried to maintain good relations through a difficult stay. I don’t recommend this place.

The worst part of our stay was how unwilling they were to help with any of the problems we reported. We had ants in the room and nothing was done. When we asked for a shower towel, it took 36 minutes and a lot of insistence to get one, and the attitude was very bad. Breakfast was also consistently late. For the price, breakfast was shameful. We were five people, but received only three eggs and two yogurts. We’d unfortunately missed other reviews mentioning the same issue. We told the woman who welcomed us that we were lactose intolerant and asked for plant-based milk. She said she’d provide it, but never did. There was construction right next door, with constant noise and a blocked view. So the advertised sea view felt like a lie. The bathroom flooded whenever we showered because the glass partition was too small to contain the water. When we reported it, the woman said, “We check it... you have right for the water is in high pressure the drain doesn't have time to absorb them.” That response might be acceptable at a hostel, but not in this kind of accommodation at the price we paid. I’d never return or recommend this hotel.

We spent a week here with family, including our two toddlers, and it was a perfect place for us. The apartment was spacious and clean, breakfast was great, and the pool was lovely. I could hardly get my daughter out of it! The beach is a bit of a walk, so after a few days we rented a car. Fun Car Hire was very reasonable.

Our group of 15, including nine adults and six children, stayed at the Depis Edem Villas at Plaka. Breakfast was included, and each morning there was an outdoor table set for all of us, with lots of yoghurt and warmed honey. Our host, Depi KONTOPIDH, helped us repeatedly with local food deliveries, taxis, car rentals, and finding our way around the island. For anyone planning a trip to Greece, our family would highly recommend Naxos for its delicious food, the lovely city of Chora, and Mediterranean beaches lined with restaurants. We found late May ideal, with warm weather and no crowds before the season got busy.
