Despina Apartments

The bathroom smell was awful, there were bugs in there, and the sheets had stains. The rooms themselves were okay, but noise carried clearly through the walls. The pool is tiny, and towels usually seemed to be reserving the sunbeds, so we ended up needing the beach. We found the kitchenette short of basics too: no sharp knife for vegetables, dish soap, sponge or dishcloth, despite the ad calling it fully equipped. When we arrived, the room wasn't ready, so we waited at the restaurant. Service was very slow even though it was less than half full. We asked twice for the bill, then waited half an hour for it. We changed into our swimwear once we got the room and went down to the beach, which is connected to the hotel. A man working there told us the sunbeds were free. The next day, a waiter said we had to buy food or drinks, or pay 7.5 euros for the loungers. That's fine, but nothing had mentioned this, and we'd assumed the hotel's beach was free for residents. The day after that we ordered drinks, but the same waiter kept pressing us about why we weren't eating there and whether we didn't like the food. He went on and on, even though the hotel says you can eat at the restaurant or cook for yourself in the apartment. His behavior felt outrageous and threatening. First we were told to buy food or drinks or pay 7.50 euros, then ordering drinks wasn't enough and he insisted we should have eaten there. The rules had never been mentioned, and nobody told us at check-in. It felt like a completely incomprehensible way to cheat customers. We've traveled a lot and haven't had such poor service or felt so unfairly treated. I can't recommend this hotel if you don't want to leave feeling bad about your stay.

We had a really enjoyable, memorable holiday and would love to come back. The best part was eating breakfast and dinner almost on the beach, with a beautiful view. The apartment was spacious, clean and well equipped, with working AC, fridge and Wi-Fi. The hotel's lovely, the pool clean and pleasantly warm. Its own beach is right there, with free loungers if you buy a drink, and they provide beach towels. Food was delicious and service okay. Thanks especially to Alex and Valentina and the two young boys. The location is ideal, near shops but on a quiet, traffic-free street.

The pillows were all the same, including the spares in the closet. I would have liked the option of a thinner, firmer one.

We walked everywhere from this perfectly placed apartment and went scuba diving nearby. Had a great couple of days. The staff were incredibly nice, and the AC worked really well. The room itself was older and could use an update.
