Sunrise Village Hotel

We had a good stay and would return. The food was especially enjoyable on the special nights, and all the staff we met were polite and friendly. The bar team were great, particularly the daytime barman and the evening cocktail man, whose cocktails were the best. Evenings were very quiet from 9pm on entertainment nights, and all night on the other evenings. The bathroom was kept very clean, though it's quite dated and needs re-grouting.

The food was a big highlight for me. There was something for everyone, with different choices each day, like Mexican, Italian, and Asian food while I was there. Breakfast had loads of options too, and I loved it. The hotel also has a big pool where you can hang out with the little ones, plus a great beach bar. It's close to the beach and a shop. Quick warning from my own experience: some small shops in Greece sell gross, inappropriate souvenirs and magnets where kids can see them, so watch out if you're visiting this exact place in Crete. The rooms were clean and worth what you pay. The bathroom was nice and very clean, and the daily cleaner was friendly. Everyone providing service was really nice, no complaints there. The location is great too. I did get kicked out of the restaurant once for being shirtless, so I can't show off there anymore, bruv.

The friendly cats around the hotel were a lovely bonus, and the staff were exceptionally helpful and attentive. The area is peaceful, with plenty of supermarkets and activities nearby. You can walk to the beach in about 5 to 7 minutes, and it never seemed overcrowded, with some parts quite empty. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and nicely presented, and the food was excellent. The two small issues were a pool that was often crowded and one room cleaning that took longer than expected.

We visited in the first week of June 2025. I was unsure at first because the area and hotel seemed aimed at Scandinavian visitors, but that concern soon went away. We arrived early afternoon, checked in quickly, and the lovely receptionist showed us to our room while explaining the food, drinks, and hotel. The room had a great view and balcony, plus a free safe and air conditioning. After a few days we got to know some lovely Scandinavian visitors, and everyone was friendly. The all-inclusive food had a great choice, the staff were quick and efficient, and tables were always cleaned with plates cleared away. Everyone was polite and friendly. The all-inclusive drinks were good too, and Dinos (Dino) and Maria at the bar were fab, we had fun there. No complaints at all. Everyone speaks English, and I learned some Greek while staying here. The hotel is a 10 out of 10 for us: very clean, with staff constantly tidying and cleaning. The local town, with its shops, bars, and restaurants, is only a five-minute walk away. We met two women I called Margaret and Rita because they were always drinking margaritas, lol. We also met Henrik and Henrietta, a lovely couple from Denmark who come a couple of times a year and are great fun, as well as couples from Wales and Scandinavia. Thanks to all the staff at reception, housekeeping, the restaurant, and the bars. This hotel is a must to visit. We'd like to come again next year if we can find it available for next June.
