Villa Irini Sifnos

Our stay was disappointing. The price didn’t match the quality, and breakfast was underwhelming. Some facilities seem to have been refurbished, but the experience still fell well short of what the photos suggest. We found ants in the room, and staff were smoking in the area where breakfast is prepared. The pool only opens from 11:00 to 19:00, which we found very inconvenient and unreasonable, as other reviewers have mentioned.

Platis Gialos is a lovely area, and we really enjoyed the pool, which was a comfortable temperature. We’ve found many other pools in Greece and the Cyclades pretty cold. They even let us use it after checkout, which was really nice. The room had recently been redone and was beautiful, spotless, and in pristine condition. Panos at reception was delightful and very helpful. Breakfast was simple but nice, and convenient.

The location is nice, just a short walk from the beach, and the staff were friendly. But at €300 a night, the value was nowhere near what other places in the area offer. Villa Irini’s website gives the impression of a refined, well-kept property, while we found exposed wiring, noticeable humidity, and ants in the room. The bathroom bin didn’t work, the sink was uncomfortably low, and the lack of insect screens made the humid room unpleasant.

Panos, the general manager, really lifted our stay. He led the team well, was always happy to help or give advice, arranged transfers for our wedding group of about 10 adults and 8 kids, helped us save some money, and pointed us to shops for last-minute needs. If he wasn’t at the property, he was easy to reach by phone. We spent five days here on our first trip to Sifnos. Our regular room was just right for us, clean and tidy, with a good shower, small terrace, and simple, well-kept air conditioning. Breakfast was basic, but the fresh fruit, eggs, juices, and pastries were plenty given how much we ate at local restaurants. The pool doesn’t open before 11 because breakfast is served in the same area, but the beach is a two-minute walk and was better for us anyway, even for a quick swim. The water is incredible.
