Beach Cabanas

I live nearby and grew up around this beach, so this isn't based on hearsay. I learned to swim here, tried skis and wave board here, and remember when the beach was confiscated and closed, with no crowds or problems and the sea always oily. I know the area and the hotel business fairly well: I grew up in a hotel and two family-owned parking lots, studied the subject, and opened shops of my own. I also know customers, local relatives, and friends with children who have worked at Nikki Beach resort spa hotel since it opened five years ago. It's good that Dolfin, the multinational owner of Nikki, invested in a ruin in Porto Heli. But after the first year, when things seemed to take off, shares changed hands and parts of the hotel, including the beach bar and paralia, were rented out. Since then, in my view, Dolfin has gone from bad to worse. In the last three years through mid-July, over 75% of the staff have left, not been fired, and staff have been left unpaid. There have also been other unacceptable things done to employees and customers, which don't fit the prestige the place is supposed to have. People I know from Argolis and Corinth who considered working at Nikki asked their friends whether they were sure, because the place was a mess and didn't pay. Some came mainly for the resume, but most left within a month. The guys who came from Athens didn't return. We're talking about professionals, including bartenders who were featured in magazines about the subject this year. Apart from the first year, the staff in the following years were so good they took the train on their own, except this summer's breakfast staff, who stayed as a core group after half the staff left, especially from the beach bar and beach. This year was disastrous after the beach bar and beach changed hands. They also lost the Thursday parties with the catamarans that toured the Saronic Gulf weekly and docked in Porto Heli mid-season. Those brought 200-300-400 people, good tourists ready to have fun and spend money in the area, but they went to the bottom. Too bad. On top of that, they tried to pick fights with some locals and workers. There were fights and meetings every two days. It's incredible and sad that after so many years they still can't get things in order.

Our apartment was clean, comfortable, and very quiet, just right for a family. It also had its own beach, with no road in front, and we could move the complex's sun loungers onto the sand. The location on the bay of Porto Heli was excellent.

Great view and very good rooms. The price could be better, since the place doesn't offer anything else.
