The room had lovely little extras, including drinks in the fridge, and the toiletries were high quality. Everything felt very clean, from the linens to the fluffy towels. Breakfast was wonderful, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I wish the hotel had some inexpensive beach towels guests could take along. One thing to know if you have mobility concerns: there are several small, easy-to-miss steps, both in the rooms and along the hallways. My mother tripped on a hallway step twice and was significantly hurt.

The lagoon was a highlight for me, with its calm, sandy, pool-like water. As a lousy swimmer, I really appreciated that. I was stunned by the huge jellyfish, and shocked to see cars driving along the so-called beach. The food was good enough, and I had a good week overall. For a low-budget hotel it was quite fine, though I missed having fresh towels, a normal-sized shower, and a hair dryer.

The staff made me feel like I was getting in their way, and were quite unfriendly. There were plenty of rooms free, but they still offered no discount. At low season, it felt too expensive.

Katakolo's centre was a convenient location, and the place had great design. The people were kind and hospitable, everything was very clean, and it was great value for money.
