Africa Hotel

The breakfast was great, and the people serving it were so kind and hardworking. Maria, our cleaning lady on the 5th floor, was the sweetest and most supportive person I’ve met. The rooms were always clean and tidy, with towels provided. Thank you, Maria, lots of hugs 🤗 We had a great holiday and service at Africa hotel, and the price was excellent for what we received. The staff were very, very friendly and helpful. Big bravo to the manager, Katerina, and the boy on the night reception shift for their professional attitude and great support. It’s a small, clean and pleasant hotel, with no pool and a basic breakfast. The coffee was good. From our balcony we had a sea view, and the room had air conditioning. The beach is rocky, but the sunset is amazing.

The room cleaning was good, and the location was great, but there was no peace or quiet at all. The bathroom, toilet and sink were very small, and breakfast was average. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, but that didn’t make the stay restful. I stayed for three nights and had the same nightmare every night. Rooms and corridors are tiled, so even small sounds echo. Guests came back around 2, 3 or 4 AM shouting, arguing and slamming doors, waking me repeatedly in shock. Management never stepped in. Then from 6:30 AM, staff dragged beds around while cleaning, talked loudly in the corridor and chatted on speakerphone. Sleeping or resting was completely impossible.

The hotel is family-owned and well located near the beach in Rhodes. The breakfast was a highlight, with a range of hot dishes and cold cuts each morning, along with cakes, fruit, vegetables, cereals, tea, coffee and juices. You can sit out on a beautiful terrace. All the staff were kind and friendly. The rooms were cleaned every day, but the cleanliness could still be better. We found black hairs everywhere, and I guess they use the same mop and water in all the rooms. The neighborhood can get noisy at night, with drunk teenagers yelling and playing loud music in the streets until 5 a.m. That isn’t the hotel’s fault. I recommend hotel Africa as good value for money.
