Athineon Hotel

The location was good and the staff were quite nice, but I wouldn’t stay here again. Our room had several broken things, including the safe, hairdryer, heating, and some cabinets. They brought a small heater, and we asked for extra blankets on the second night when it got chilly. I didn’t bother testing a few other things after that. Noise from cleaners in the hallway woke me several times in the morning, and the sound insulation wasn’t great, so sleeping in was difficult. I didn’t try the food or pool, though the pool looked nice. It was okay overall.

The breakfast had plenty of choice, and the staff were lovely, always willing to give information or help. Our room had a sea view, though there is a building in front, which isn’t the hotel’s responsibility. It’s very close to the historic centre, and depending on where you’re headed it’s about 20-30 minutes from town. We ended up spending most of our time in Rhodes town. The one unpleasant thing was mould beneath the marble in the bath, perhaps because the building is old or the seal wasn’t fully waterproof. Even so, we had a really great stay and thought it was good value for the price. Thanks for the warm welcome!

The pool area was clean and comfortable, and the food tasted good. We found the little kitchen in the room especially handy with kids, and housekeeping kept everything to a high standard. Both ladies at reception gave immaculate service throughout, as did the bar staff. Our only real drawback was the location of the nearest beach. It wasn’t the nicest one, so we had to walk a bit to find a better beach. Still, my family had a wonderful stay.

We had an amazing time at this hotel in Rhodes. The pool was clean, breakfast was delicious, and the air conditioning cooled the room just right. That’s exactly what you need as a traveller. I’d definitely recommend staying here in Greece.
