Rhodos Horizon Blu Hotel

The loudest problem was our rooms, 235 and 336. They had no sea view, and there was a lot of noise, mostly from the karaoke bar directly opposite the hotel entrance. It stayed open until 3 a.m., and for three nights we had to put up with drunken singing into the early hours. My my my Delilah. It wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but five stars might give the wrong impression. I’d consider staying again, just not in rooms above the entrance. Four stars feels about right, while my wife gave it 4.5. The hotel itself was clean, modern and spacious, with friendly staff and efficient service. My wife called it one of the nicest hotels we’ve been to, and my daughter loved it too. We’d all happily return. We arrived late after dinner service had ended, but I’d ordered food ahead, and the hotel gave us a complimentary lunch basket with sandwiches, bananas, cake and a bottle of water each. A nice touch. Breakfast had lots of options and was one of the best we’ve had: fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, different breads, continental ham and cheese, plenty of cakes and pastries, a chocolate fountain and cooked items. The coffees were good. The orange “juice” ran out, and the other juices seemed diluted rather than pure. The “English bacon” was more Greek than English. See pictures 1-6. The location is pretty good, a few minutes from the windy west beach, and a 12-15 minute walk to Rhodes old town. The port is about 30 minutes away, with local buses or taxis as options. There’s a decent mini market on the bottom floor, a small pool with sunbeds, and a pool snack bar/restaurant with very reasonable prices. We had lunch there on our last day and sunbathed while waiting for our transfer. There are two pool tables, table tennis, air hockey, a small gym and a spa, though we didn’t use the games, gym or spa. Next to the bar is a spacious lounge with books and a few magazines, German or Dutch I think. See the last two pictures. It was better than the nearby Blue Sky hotel. On checkout day, there’s a place to leave luggage, with a shower and toilet, which was handy. Wifi worked OK in our room.
