Nikos Studios and Apartments

We had a great stay in lovely rooms at this family-run place. The pool was enjoyable, and it was a 25-minute walk to a lovely beach and the food spots along Sami’s seafront.

The owners are really friendly and welcoming. Their daughter speaks English; the rest of the family don’t know much English, which was fine for us. There are lots of cats around. They don’t beg for anything, though a few still sneeze or have infected eyes, as earlier reviews mentioned. For the price, this is superb. The rooms are a little dated, and the shower could use an update, but ours had fresh beige linen and a comfy boxspring bed instead of the old wooden one in the photos. It was very clean and cleaned often, and quite sufficient for the limited time we spent inside during a summer holiday. We didn’t cook, since Sami has plenty of affordable places to eat at any time of day, but the fridge worked well for us. There’s lots of space to park. Sami is close enough to walk to, though we drove. It’s a great base for Kefalonia, with everything within decent reach and, in September, without being held up by crowds of tourists. The pool looked a little smaller than in the photos, but it was refreshing and quiet after a beach day. Our own balcony was spacious and really nice. We stayed two weeks and never got bored.

The owners were friendly and helpful, and even the dog who greets you was lovely. It’s a quiet place and spotlessly clean. The pool was refreshing and had enough sun loungers. The photo is taken from the bedroom in room 8.

The apartments could do with an update, though Greece is going through a difficult time right now. Still, it’s a lovely escape from the modern world, as long as you’re happy with a simple, unsophisticated place. It’s surrounded by little smallholdings, and it’s a bit of a stroll into town. You’ll hear the countryside: sheep and their bells, cockerels, cats and dogs. The family running it are very nice and work hard, and the garden and pool are so well kept.
