Up in a mountain village, it feels wonderfully secluded, but the nearest beach is still only a 20-minute drive away. The views are breathtaking, and the traditional little villas are so cute. All you hear up there are sheep and bees. I can’t describe how amazing our stay was, and the breakfast was exceptional. Our host was professional and friendly.

The drive there can feel a little adventurous at night if you’re not used to the roads, but this peaceful gem is worth every kilometer. It was one of the loveliest places I’ve ever visited, with stunning views, extraordinary service, and apartments renovated in an authentic style with so many thoughtful details. Samonas is beautiful, quiet, and restful, yet Chania is only about a 35-minute drive away. We spent a week here with my wife and infant son and had an amazing time. The accommodation was great, and the sea and mountain views are incredible. Konstantinos made us feel so welcome and gave us thoughtful, useful tips to help plan our time in Crete. We’ll definitely stay again.
