We stayed for a week at the beginning of October, and the service was fantastic. The rooms were clean, the food was amazing, and the staff were helpful, professional and polite. There are three pools: a quiet one, one for kids, and an upper pool near the restaurant with amazing views. The hotel also has a strong environmental commitment, reusing plastic bottles for water, encouraging towel reuse, with fresh ones available at the spa if needed, and using self-service around the pool. The evening experiences are included, and I'd definitely recommend them. The hotel is near some great bars and attractions. We hired a car from Monza car hire for £92 for a week, paid cash on arrival without a credit card, and returning it was quick. Fuel was returned at the same level, and they didn't even check the car. We'd definitely recommend the stay.

The price was the only part that wasn't below average, so we won't return. The place sprawls over a steep hill, with the accommodation at the bottom, food at the top and bars awkwardly placed too. It doesn't seem convenient for guests, just their bottom line. The water fountains are a joke, and the whole thing was a bit rubbish. There are plenty of better hotels at better prices. A taxi into the village costs €11.

There are plenty of sunbeds and pools, four in all, each different and including slides. The staff were helpful, the food was great, and the evening entertainment was basic. It's a quiet place, not a party hotel, and the nightlife isn't bustling. It's hilly, so be prepared, but the half-hour walk into Elounda was very manageable. It seems well suited to young families, and we'd be happy to return. One thing to know before arriving: Greece's tourist tax is 15 euros per night, per room. We were charged 210 on arrival, and it may rise to 20 euros per night/roomnext year.

The location is great, and Elounda is well worth a visit. We just got home after seven nights, but won't be returning to this hotel. It certainly doesn't feel like five stars, and I'm not sure who gave it that rating. We were in room 3122, at the top of the hill beside the bins and skips. In the heat, the smell was unbelievable. We were supposed to have an inland view, but the five-foot walls around the patio made it feel like a prison yard. The bathroom sink was loose, the water pressure terrible, the toilet kept trickling, and the shower head looked like it came from a budget shop. I called immediately to ask about paying to upgrade or change rooms, but was told we had to wait four days and could only move to the same type of room. The food was pleasant in the main restaurant and both a la carte restaurants, though the main dining room felt a lot like school dinner time. The beach bar was nice, but having to pay for drinks there when we're all inclusive felt like a con. The 'Main bar', which must once have been reception, had no atmosphere. The pools were a nice temperature and TUI staff were very good, but the main pool is a bed war. If you're not queuing by 0730, forget getting a sunbed, and the hotel doesn't care.

The views are beautiful, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and there are four pools to choose from. The bar has a good range of cocktails and mocktails, and the salad is fresh and beautifully prepared. Bread and dessert choices are fantastic too. But the food is phenomenal only if you eat meat. I'm vegetarian and struggled with the very limited options, and there were even fewer for vegans. Broccoli and beans often came with bacon, and even the lovely pasta dishes had bacon or other meat in them. Why add meat to vegetables? They could offer more vegetable-based pastas with olives and veg, then let people add meat separately. I was looking forward to trying traditional Gyros, but only chicken or pork were available. Why not offer a halloumi version? During the whole stay I ended up eating the same two things, chips and salad. They really need to improve the vegetarian and vegan choices.
