Radamanthy's Apartments

Service was great, and the rooms were a decent size and fairly clean. The biggest challenge was the very steep hill the hotel sits on, which was tough to walk up. There are a few supermarkets nearby, but the closest restaurant is about a 10-minute walk, and the bus ride into the city takes around 20 minutes. Our AC didn’t work, and we couldn’t get any TV channels.

The staff were lovely to chat with and really helpful, and the apartments were clean. There’s a supermarket and some nice places to eat nearby, plus a bus stop by the coffee house. Still, the apartment felt like one star: hardly anything to cook with, and the shower could be better. I kept twisting my ankle on the way to the loo. Air conditioning costs €8 a day, which wasn’t clear when booking. The apartments are up a steep hill, and getting here from Chania took longer than the flight. It’s a fair journey from Rethymon, so I’d hire a car and be sorted. I’d stay again, but keep the distance in mind.

We had a lovely holiday, and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The rooms were spacious and well kept, though one of the AC units leaked. The cooking setup was limited to two hobs, saucepans, a kettle and a toastie maker. For self-catering, I expected enough to prepare proper meals. The hotel is at the top of a steep hill, which was a challenge at times. We had to use first gear to drive our hire car up.

We enjoyed our stay, and the friendly staff were always keen to help. The rooms were clean, comfortable and roomy. If you get a room high up, the sea view is lovely. There’s a small but adequate pool, though it could use more sunbeds. We preferred the roof garden, with its sunbeds and chairs, and didn’t get any smokers there. There aren’t many restaurants around, but we found Thalassi and it became our favourite. Dimitri was a fantastic host, and the food was lovely by the sea. The main drawback is the very steep hill. We’re older, and found it a struggle, so we hired a scooter to get up.
