Castello Boutique Resort & Spa - Adults Only

Our sea-facing balcony and comfortable, roomy beds were lovely, and breakfast was plentiful. The cooked food cooled fast on the cold plates, though, which was a shame. Staff were really friendly and helpful, especially the manager, who was always on the go. Aisha was a delight too. We stayed nine nights, and our bedding and towels weren’t changed, while cups and glasses weren’t replaced. We didn’t raise it at the time because the staff seemed so busy. Still, we liked the hotel overall. Thank you.

The people here are what I’ll remember most. We arrived around 10 or 11 at night and they had food and drinks waiting for us, and by the second day they knew our coffee order at breakfast. Everyone was warm and took time to chat with us. I’m going to miss them, and we already want to come back next year. We got an unexpected upgrade to a room with its own pool, which made the trip for us. It was spacious, and the terrace was perfect for lying in the sun. The hotel is huge and beautifully designed, luxurious but still welcoming. There’s an indoor pool and a gym you can reserve for private use, so it was quiet whenever we went. They put on a show each day at one of the three hotels. We saw the fire and light show and the South African band, and both were incredible. Best holiday we’ve had.

The calm atmosphere we expected from an adults-only hotel disappeared on our last day, when around 30 students arrived. They took over the restaurant at lunch and held presentations by the pool. That lack of consistency was disappointing. Food was the main letdown throughout the week. Dinner repeated much the same dishes every night, most without much flavor, and many items had no labels, so it was hard to know what we were eating. The extra-cost à la carte option wasn’t much better. Breakfast was acceptable but repetitive too, and from day three we chose nearby restaurants, which were much better. The mattress was worn and sagging, making it hard to sleep, which doesn’t feel acceptable for a five-star hotel. The staff were consistently friendly and tried their best, and the rooms looked clean and comfortable at first. Still, the bed, food, and noisy change in atmosphere made the stay a disappointment. We wouldn’t come back or recommend it as a real five-star experience.

The evening performances were my favorite part, full of fun and energy. Andreas really made the atmosphere special, bravo! The room was spacious and spotless, and the staff looked after all the details. Food and drinks were fresh and tasty too. I had a great stay and would gladly come back. Definitely recommend it.
