Thalassokipos

I came back after 12 years and found the same lovely place I remembered, only now it’s bigger and more modern. A perfect retreat for a couple. Great again!

The hotel sits on a hill, and the view is wonderful. Breakfast is served on a terrace looking out over the sea and the surrounding islands. It’s delicious and hearty, with eggs, bacon, coffee, fruit juice, milk and dessert.

The garden setting is what made Thalassokipos feel like a hidden paradise to us. There are olive gardens, fig and lime trees, grapevines and even tomatoes growing there, along with hammocks, garden chairs and quiet corners for reading. We loved our terrace view so much that we didn’t want to go out for dinner. The whole property felt peaceful and lush, and the beach nearby was often empty, with clear water and natural shade from olive trees. There are no sunbeds, but we didn’t miss them. We took a boat trip around the region’s lagoons and realized we were already staying in one. Our room was spotless and had a kitchen and electric stove, so we could cook when we wanted. Shops are about 10 minutes away by car, so we recommend driving to the nearby Masoutis supermarket for fresh fish and local delicacies. Bringing food back to cook on the balcony with that view was a trip highlight. Parking was easy and convenient. Breakfast was fine, though nothing special. The owners were helpful and quick to respond from the time we booked. I had questions before arrival, including a payment issue, and they replied kindly and promptly by email. Their hospitality felt genuine and warm. One tip, booking directly through the hotel website is cheaper than using Booking.com. It’s a quiet, rather than lively, place, so I’d recommend staying at least a few nights to recharge before going somewhere more touristic or bustling. It’s a true gem, and we’re already dreaming about coming back. We didn’t want to leave for a single minute.

This place is absolutely magical, and you can tell it’s a long-standing passion for the owners. They grow olives, pomegranates, figs and plenty of other beautiful plants, and they’re sweet and friendly, as is the whole staff. The views are breathtaking, the rooms clean and comfortable, with an extremely comfy bed and pillows. The kitchens have everything you need. Breakfast deserves a special mention, with fresh home-cooked dishes that change each day to suit all tastes. I wish I could eat it at home every day. Hats off to the chef. It’s away from the busy tourist areas, so it’s best for a down-to-earth, quiet and relaxing stay. Swim at the small private beach, have a drink at Moonlight bar, or settle in the garden with a book. Everything was perfect, 10/10. Thanks to the wonderful team!
