Velikis Apartments

We booked this place because it was listed as pet-friendly and brought our small dog, who had surgery only two weeks before the trip. After we’d paid, the hosts messaged to say he couldn’t be left alone in the room. That condition hadn’t appeared in the listing before we booked. It threw the whole holiday off. Given his recovery, leaving him on the beach all day wasn’t possible, so we had to arrange and pay for daytime care. It meant unexpected costs, stress, and a lot of hassle. We spoke with the owners hoping they’d work something out, but they weren’t willing to help or show understanding. The owner brushed off our request and gave explanations we found hard to believe: that Greek law never permits pets to be left alone in an apartment, and that all Greek dog owners take their dogs to a dog hotel every day while they work. The owners also seemed to keep track of whether we returned with our dog. When we came back without him, they would wait for us to open the room and look inside, or knock with an excuse, like saying they were bringing the Wi-Fi password. What we expected to be a long-awaited, restful break became frustrating and stressful. If the rule had been clear before booking, we would have chosen somewhere else.
