Villa in Cavo Kastri Residence

Dimitri is a lovely host, a positive and polite older gentleman who’s easy to communicate with. He welcomed us with a bottle of red wine, bread, and water in the fridge. The house is cozy and ready to live in, with a big fridge and ice compartment, stove, full kitchen, LED TV in the living room, and a mobile barbecue outside. There are three sets of garden furniture, so plenty of places to sit and unwind. The balcony and front yard have fabulous views over Nikiti bay, and the surroundings are quiet. A very smart dog, Lilika, and a couple of cats keep the Cavo Kastri residence complex safe. Kastri Small beach, the nearest wild beach where you can bring your own umbrella and towels, is about 400-ish m away, a 7-10 minute walk. There are also two small beaches reached by stairs from the complex. They’re fine for a swim, then heading back to the garden or front yard, but not really for spending half or all day with beach gear. Nikiti beach is 3-4km away, and you’ll need a car to get there or reach other beaches towards Neos Marmaras. That’s Sithonia for you. You’ll also need a car to buy food, unless you want to walk 3-4km to Nikiti. Each morning around 9.00-9.15 am, a van from Nikiti brings bread and pastries. A few things worth knowing, though none were dealbreakers for us. The house was clean, including dishes, beds, sheets, towels, and fridge, but some unused kitchen machines had oily surfaces and the general cleaning could be better. Internet was okay-ish at around 3/0.7 Mbps, but slowed when more than four devices connected. That’s standard COSMOTE WiFi router behavior on Chalkidiki. Fine for email, Viber audio calls, social media, and even Netflix if only one device uses the internet. The Samsung LED TV in the living room won’t read MP4 or MKV files. To play movies or shows from an external HDD, you’ll need a laptop and HDMI cable, like we used, or some kind of media box.
