Virginia Hotel

Tholis gave us very good service, and we had a wonderful lunch here. The view of the sea was lovely, especially with the area’s great red sunsets. In a pretty setting, we had fresh grilled swordfish and souvlaki, both delicious. After seeing so many large hotels nearby with boring buffet food, finding this restaurant felt like a gem. We can’t wait to return and try more of the cooking.

A rental car is a good idea here because the hotel is in a fairly remote area, and Sithonia has plenty of gorgeous beaches worth the cost of driving around. Free parking is available. We had a really enjoyable 11-night stay in a cute double room with breakfast included. The view across the Aegean sea is stunning, and the sunsets from our rather large balcony were amazing. The room was a reasonable size for two, with a small bathroom, working AC, a fridge, and a kettle, both of which came in handy. The hotel grounds are beautiful, well cared for, clean, and lovely. The owners and staff are very friendly and always helpful. Breakfast had a wide range of food, including scrambled eggs, pastry, and fresh orange juice. We’d absolutely come back for another vacation.

We stayed at a nearby resort and came here for drinks because the terrace cafe is beautifully set above the sea, shaded by pine trees. The location is excellent, with direct access to the sea, and the place looks lovely. What felt very odd was the cafe staff’s attitude. They seemed extremely unprofessional, almost rude, never smiled, and made a real effort to make us feel unwelcome. I didn’t let it bother me much, as I’ve learned to ignore that sort of thing and focus on what I enjoy, living in the Balkans and working around the world from east to west, north to south. Still, their manner was strange.

We went to the restaurant for dinner expecting a pleasant evening, but the hotel owner showed up and started shouting like a madman. It left an extremely rude and inappropriate impression. The food and service weren’t good at all. Never again.
