Xenios Zeus Hotel

We stayed six nights with my wife. There was no one at reception when we arrived, and we had to wait a while for someone to show up. He put us in what seemed like the worst room in the hotel. There was no “LOVE” in the Love room: it was downstairs, with a kitchen fan running outside all night. It was very dirty, with a broken plastic toilet seat and a plastic shower curtain stained brown. It felt like a university dorm. The next day we asked to switch rooms and were moved to the top floor in another section. That was a completely different experience. The second-floor room had a balcony and a side view of the sea. Another issue was the woman selling drinks by the sunbeds near the water. She kept treating us like random foreigners off the street and insisting we buy something. We’d only bought the room. Nikiti itself felt packed with pedestrians, with barely any room to breathe. I’d think twice before returning to the city.

Breakfast was a highlight, with lots of homemade treats and something different each day. We had to leave early on our last day, so they thoughtfully packed us breakfast to go and made coffee for us. The hotel is right on the beach, with loungers and parasols, and it was quieter in the evening than the other side of Nikiti. The restaurant’s food was delicious, the decor was lovely, and the waiters were nice and funny. The woman who prepared breakfast didn’t speak English, and we didn’t speak Greek, but she greeted us warmly with “Kalimera” and a big smile every morning. We felt very welcome. The rooms are quite small, though ours had a balcony with room to hang towels. There’s free parking for rental cars. A few things could be improved. There were lots of crane flies, and we were stung several times at night. We found up to six in the room in the morning. A mosquito net or spray for guests would help. Some parts need renovation, including the shower door, which wasn’t properly on its rail, and the old doors. Reception wasn’t staffed every day, so a sign showing its hours would be useful. We often had cold water for evening showers, which needs fixing.

The location is ideal, right beside the sea, and we really enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. For lunch or dinner, you can try Iskios restaurant. The one small issue was that we weren’t given much information about the room and other facilities at check-in, but it wasn’t a big deal. Have fun!

A beautiful, clean place with a traditional Greek feel. The staff were kind, and breakfast on the terrace out front came with a superb sea view. The parking lot is large.
