Elysee Hotel

We'd stay here again. It was our first time at Elysee, though our tenth visit to Sitia. For a two-star hotel, which describes the facilities rather than the quality, it was good and fairly priced. The covered parking at the back was a real bonus. Our room was spacious enough, clean, and serviced daily, with good air conditioning and a great view over the bay and harbour. There was no passing traffic, but being just above the restaurant street meant evening noise from people strolling before and after dinner, especially earlier in the evening. The area by the little square is noisier, while the end toward the five-star hotel is quieter. It didn't bother us, and the view makes the noise understandable. The balconies catch the morning sun, then are shaded by mid-morning, which is handy if you're staying in. Breakfast was a simple continental-style cold buffet in a large, pleasant, well air-conditioned room. It was good, with boiled eggs as the exception to the cold options. The lift was nice to have. Most guests seemed to be older Greek visitors, though there were some young families too, so it was a good mix.

The free parking and clean surroundings were welcome. Staff were very polite and helpful. We stayed on the first floor. The rooms were decent and due for refurbishment, while the bathrooms had been fully redone and were clean and nice. Breakfast was simple but fine. We could hear corridor noise in the room, though not sounds from outside. If you're tall, watch your head on the stairs going down from the first floor toward the mezzanine.

We had a superior room on the top floor, with a lovely terrace and marvellous views. The shower was good, and having a kettle and fridge was really handy. Breakfast had plenty to choose from and was more than enough. Great value for the price, with friendly, helpful staff.

We stayed in the Penthouse suite, with a big terrace outside. Nice hotel, perfectly placed in the middle of the beach promenade.
