Hotel Villa Marie

We had a great week and would happily return. The pool area was excellent and really clean, and the rooms were tidied every day. Themis and his wife are a lovely, helpful couple who run the hotel. They also make a nice breakfast, including his mother’s homemade marmalade. It’s a quiet spot about a 10 minute walk from the harbour and centre. Recommended.

Themis, Irini, Christos, and the rest of the staff made our trip unforgettable. They helped us plan outings and shared useful local information, and Themis knows the area so well that you can ask him about anything. His recommendations were all great. The breakfast was delicious, filling, and had plenty of variety. Our room was very clean, the cleaning staff were lovely, there was parking, and the town centre was close. A car is useful for exploring the area. We felt so welcome that leaving was genuinely sad for me, a first in all my travels. Now every other trip we consider gets compared with Villa Marie, and somehow falls short. I can see us returning for another amazing holiday.

The staff made the biggest impression, always friendly and warm in a personal way you don’t get at larger resorts. The owner even drove us both ways to our transfer. Breakfast was tasty and generous, served each morning in the lovely garden. Our room was spotless, the atmosphere calm, and both the harbour and beaches were walkable. Highly recommended.

The pool and garden at Hotel Villa Marie were lovely places to unwind, and it’s a small, friendly family-run hotel. It’s about a 15 minute walk from the main harbour. There are several beautiful beaches to explore on foot, with clear water; the nearest is around 25 minutes away. You can apparently reach them by taxi, water taxi, or land train too, though we preferred walking. In the evenings there are lots of tavernas for dinner or a drink, and the sunsets are amazing. They also make the best Greek salad in Sivota.
