Pasiphae Hotel

We didn’t use the main pool. It seemed to have the usual scramble of putting towels down to claim a sunbed, and the mattresses looked tired and shabby. Most of the covers seemed stained with suntan lotion and probably sweat, so they could do with a wash. Breakfast was fine, with a decent range, and they know how to poach an egg. The coffee machine was good, though there was always a queue. We didn’t notice food options at other times apart from barbecue night, but we didn’t look very hard. The pool bar was pleasant enough, though the music choices seemed questionable for a mostly older crowd. Our swim-up room was nice enough, with a comfortable bed, a good bathroom and a separate toilet. I think both had been refurbished recently. There was no safe in the room, but you could rent one at reception. Housekeeping came nearly every day, which we all felt wasn’t really needed. The pool is shared by about eight rooms in the block. It felt a bit odd swimming in front of the neighbours at first, but was fine once you got to know them. When a family arrived, though, we all had to listen to their music, which disturbed the peace. Our neighbours found a wasps’ nest outside their room, and it was dealt with quickly after they reported it. I liked that our terrace faced the kitchen garden, where they grew all sorts of vegetables. The hotel manager didn’t seem particularly friendly. I was disappointed that no one let me know when my delayed baggage had been delivered. I found it later, left in reception. It’s a ten-minute walk to the village, with little shade. On the way you cross a stinky bridge, which seems to be the hotel’s sewage soakaway. I could be wrong, and it takes less than a minute to get past it. Even with those issues, there wasn’t enough to put us off completely. The island is beautiful, and we may well return to another area and hire a car to explore.

The staff were really friendly, and we had a swim-up room that had been beautifully refurbished. It’s a lovely hotel. The only downside was the lack of vegan options.

My brother and I spent a week here in April this year and had a very nice stay. The pool is great, with plenty of space around it, and the rooms were very clean and serviced every day. Breakfast always had a good selection of freshly prepared food. It’s about a ten-minute walk over flat ground to the resort centre. All the staff were lovely, and I hope to come back soon. Also, there was an adorable little dog who seemed to live there.

There are great birdwatching spots all around, and the hotel is only a short walk from the seafront and plenty of lovely tavernas. I’ve just come back from a week here. It’s a nice hotel, with good air conditioning in the rooms and a breakfast with lots of choice. The pool is nice and unusually deep.
