Agistri Apartments

The room was large, though I didn’t need that much space. The location was good, although on such a tiny island most places are well situated. I expected apartments might not have a reception, but the website didn’t say so. We walked 15 minutes from the port and found nobody there. The Oasis hotel, which handles the apartments, told us to go all the way back to the port to check in. When I asked why we hadn’t been told, they said they usually notify apartment guests but didn’t have our number. Five minutes later, the printed check-in form they gave me had my number on it. Two days after that, we saw a foreign couple run into the same problem. Please update the website. A souvlaki place on the corner played loud music from noon until after midnight. I called the hotel the first night because sleeping in the afternoon or at night was impossible; they said they’d call the restaurant, but nothing changed the next afternoon or night. After a second night without sleep, I called to ask for a quieter room. They said they’d look into it and call me, but never did. The next morning I found a woman from Oasis at the apartments and raised it with her. They offered a quiet room for an extra 5 euros a night, which felt like a joke given all the problems. I know the restaurant’s noise wasn’t their fault, but they could have moved me without charging extra. The listing says the rooms have a private balcony, but it’s shared with the other rooms. My window faced a wall, and the amenities weren’t replenished after the first day. This feels like Oasis’s neglected little sibling, and it isn’t cheap. You can find better.

I don’t know how, but this comment has been removed twice. We had a very bad stay last September 2021. The rooms were clean and nice, but there was a bad smell from the underground pipes. They said it had already been fixed, though it hadn’t. The fridge was broken and wouldn’t close properly because the freezer had iced up. Instead of repairing or replacing it, they left it wide open while I was out to defrost. Water ended up across the floor and all the way to the bed. Management acted as if I was being unreasonable. I left two nights early and got a refund, but they still kept the tourist taxes. The whole response to the problem and to customer satisfaction was ridiculous. The people responsible are at another hotel five minutes’ walk from the apartments, and the staff were young and inexperienced. There’s no direct beach access and no view from the balconies. For the same price, you can easily find somewhere better on the island.

Horrible stay, and a total rip-off. I wouldn’t even give it a star. There are two separate places, Agistri Apartments and Oasis Skala Beach Hotel, but their rooms are sold together in a way that feels deliberately misleading. Agistri Apartments isn’t by the beach or pool. It’s in town, in a cramped block of apartments. The kitchenette wasn’t fully equipped, so I had to ask for cutlery and a pan. The cooker didn’t work, which I only discovered halfway through making breakfast crepes. Management didn’t care about helping. The staff were very nice but seemed young and inexperienced, likely underpaid, and unable to do much. That isn’t the picture the website gives, and it’s not a way of doing business I want to support. The whole thing wasted time I could’ve spent at the beach. There are plenty of decent places on the island for the same price or less. I’m now staying at C-view in Megalochori, and it’s paradise.

What an unfortunate stay. The staff couldn’t replace our towels or sheets because the laundry machine was broken. We expected the room to be cleaned daily, especially during the current virus times, but that didn’t happen. Staff were mostly rude, and there was a lot of noise at inappropriate times.
