Makis Studios

The welcome was fantastic. Our host was waiting when we arrived and took us straight to the room. Three of us shared a studio with a decent amount of space. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had a fridge and small freezer section, and the shower was good. It was cleaned daily, with fresh towels every two days. The location worked really well, a few minutes on foot from the strip and 10 minutes from the beach. There’s a lovely pool with shallow and deep ends, a bar with happy hour, and excellent WiFi. Air conditioning cost £69 for the week, but we needed it in temperatures close to 100 degrees. Would recommend.

There are quite a few stairs, so it may not suit someone with limited mobility. Still, we loved it and will be back. The staff are a dream team who work hard to make sure guests have a great stay. Housekeeping was spotless, and the whole hotel was, too.

The site is very close to the main street and beach, and the outside areas were immaculate. There’s a lovely pool and a friendly pool bar and cafe with reasonable prices. The apartments were wonderfully clean and had all the essentials. It looked just like the website, which isn’t something you can say about many places. I’d return to Makis Studios in a flash.

We’ve stayed in more than 15 places in Skala over the past 20 years, and Makis Studios has become our family’s favourite. This was our second stay, and it’s the only place we plan to book from now on. It’s run by a lovely, sociable family. The village location is ideal, about a five-minute walk to the beach, yet quiet and tucked away. Rooms are cleaned daily, usually at the same time, and sheets and towels are changed every two days. They even wash the dishes, which was a nice surprise. The pool opens at 8 and is cleaned each morning beforehand. The pool bar serves food, has an extensive drinks menu, and stays open late. One thing to know is that cats roam around the hotel and all of Skala. Staff try to keep them away and ask visitors not to feed them, but many people do, so they come back. If previous guests in your room fed them, you’ll know about it, haha.
