Amalthia Studios Apartments

The photos made the place look much better than it was in person. My room was a little unclean, and the cooking facilities were old. There was no hot water, and when I tried contacting them about it, nothing came of it. After checkout, I also had nowhere safe to leave my case for a late bus transfer, and nobody available to help. It's conveniently near the seafront, but I don't think it was worth the money. I wouldn't stay again, and feel a partial refund would be appropriate.

The garden and courtyard are beautiful, and the rooms are a good size. The facilities are basic but adequate, and I liked that the double bed was queen-sized. The owner was friendly and gave us tips on places to visit. Air conditioning cost 5 euros a night. He insisted the factory settings meant it couldn't be set below 26 degrees, which clearly isn't true, and that left me with a bad feeling.

We were welcomed with fresh fruit coated in sugar, glasses of white wine, and a map of Skiathos. The owners were lovely and pointed out good beaches, places to eat, and attractions. There's a spacious car park if you're renting a jeep, scooter, or ATV to explore the island. Our comfortable, airy room was cleaned daily to a very good standard. We also loved the small garden, a lovely spot to sit and read. It's a little hidden gem, and we'll definitely return to Skiathos.

A very good value stay, with friendly owners and adequate rooms, especially since you won't spend much time in them. It's ideally placed for everything Skiathos Town has to offer. It would be even better if they build a pool area.
