For £35 a night, booked only a week ahead, this was a fantastic deal and a great base right in the heart of Skiathos Town. The hotel is nicely decorated, and the bed was really comfortable. It was mostly unstaffed from the afternoon on, but getting in with the keys provided was never a problem. A light sleeper might want somewhere else, though. The rooms are along one narrow staircase, so there’s a lot of noise, and some kind of alarm went off every morning at 8am, beeping for two hours. The bathroom was also tiny, the shower flooded it every time, and there wasn’t space to dry off. Otherwise, it did the job at a very good price.

I booked on the day and ended up having the hotel to myself. Eddie greeted me warmly and took care of my bag. The room and facilities were very good, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The steps up to the property and from the entrance to reception could make me think twice about coming back, but since staff carried my bag both when I arrived and left, they weren’t a problem. The service was faultless, and I had a really good stay.

The room had facilities you’d expect in a four or five star hotel, and the central location was quiet. There wasn’t anyone to speak to or at reception during our stay, though, apart from when we arrived and left. Also, there are a lot of stairs, so this place won’t suit anyone who struggles with them, including older guests, families with strollers, or people carrying a heavy suitcase.

Our flight from Santorini was cancelled, and the next available one was after our checkout date. We’d been so excited about visiting Skiathos for our honeymoon, and the disruption was out of our control. The owner kept our money and didn’t try to help us through a stressful situation. We were told on the phone that we’d get more information, but nobody called back, and they wouldn’t let us speak to management. All we got was a reminder to read the cancellation policy. The owner needs to handle customer service more professionally, and the policy needs reviewing. This wasn’t okay, and they should be ashamed.
