Dolphin Hotel

The location was good, and the cleaning ladies always tidied and cleaned our room and bed. But I dreaded coming back to the room, and this was the worst hotel experience of my life. I’m sorry places like this exist. We booked because of the price and reviews saying the rooms had been renovated, but most didn’t seem to have been. Our room was old and smelled musty from the wooden furniture and humidity. The air conditioning smelled too and wasn’t suitable for a hotel room. A fixed mosquito net meant the outside window couldn’t be fully closed, and I worried people could peek in while we slept. Breakfast was barely there, just some eggs, bread, jam, cheese and ham. I think the hotel should be downgraded to zero stars. I can’t see why it has two, and in my opinion there’s no longer proper oversight of these ratings, they just pay to keep their status. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay, don’t look here.

The hotel’s close to the port, which was really convenient, and both the service and breakfast were good. The doors were the only downside, as they were very hard to open and close. Otherwise, I’d recommend it.

The location is brilliant, just a minute’s walk from the port, bars and tavernas, which is why I’ve stayed here a few times. The hotel has lots of potential, but the rooms are clean and tired. I’ve always had a pool view room. The pool is in a great sunny spot, but it looks tired and has sometimes been dirty. The pool bar has never been open when I’ve been there. You hardly see the staff. I’ll be visiting skopelos again this year, but unfortunately I’ll be staying at a different hotel, about a ten-minute walk from the port and other places.

The reception staff member, Elevtheria, was professional and thoughtful, and suggested places for us to visit. The hotel is right in the town centre near the port, with free WiFi, a small fridge and a drying rack. The rooms weren’t great, with dated furniture and only two bars of soap in the bathroom. Our room wasn’t very clean either. The cleaning staff could’ve done a better job.
