Karavos Sea View Apartments

Marilena was a wonderful host and helped us with everything we needed. We could also leave our car in the private lot right across from the house. The balcony had an amazing view, and the house was roomy with everything we needed. There were even adorable cats wandering around the yard. It’s a lovely traditional place, set back from the noise of the centre but still within walking distance of the port. Being able to use the washing machine and storage room was a real bonus.

The flats are spacious, with big windows, and the view across the bay and Skopelos town is lovely. It’s only about a ten-minute walk into town. The upkeep of the equipment needs attention, though. Some furniture is broken and the toilet keeps running, so the owners should take better care of those things.

It’s a lovely apartment with a nice view, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The bed was so uncomfortable that we wound up sleeping on the couch, which was a little better. To get hot water for a shower, you have to switch on the boiler and wait at least 15 minutes. If neither of those things bothers you, the place itself is beautiful.

The views and location are great, and most of the house is beautiful, apart from the third bedroom. Still, I wouldn’t recommend it or return. We were two couples with three children, the youngest aged 6, and the owner knew there would be seven of us when I booked. But when we asked for a cot, he said it wouldn’t look good and never brought one. That bedroom had a huge hole in the window screen anyway, so a cot wouldn’t have spoiled the look. Things kept breaking: the coffee pot failed, and the outdoor umbrella snapped in two while we were sitting under it. It’s a miracle nobody got hurt. The owner replaced those items, but did nothing about the refrigerator, which never kept a proper temperature and left dairy spoiled in the following days. The house was clean when we arrived, but there was no regular cleaning service. I had to call the owner every day, and he said they clean every four days. During our six-night stay, it was cleaned just once. Then on our last day, he insisted we leave at 10 am because the cleaners were coming. We nearly argued over it, since checkout is 11 am on the house website and is the usual time. We did leave at 10, but the whole experience was a big disappointment. The lack of genuine customer care is what prompted this review.
