Villa Martha Hotel

If you’ll be out roaming the island most of the time, this could work for a few days. Otherwise, I’d look elsewhere. The pool was clean but not heated, and there was no room service or other extra utilities. Breakfast was simple and served for two hours after 8:30am: prebaked goods such as croissants and spinach pies, plus coffee, orange juice, bread, butter, and honey. The room itself was basic, with a bed, a very small TV, and a fridge with no minibar or snacks. The bathroom had a shower beside the toilet and a small sink without much space, though soap and a hair dryer were provided.

I liked the location and the quiet feel, though getting into Spetses means walking a little along the main road with motorcycles. It’s not far, and a horse and cart can drop you off, but it may not suit everyone. The beach is close, and the garden pool is fabulous. The tidy, comfortable rooms were good value. Vassiliki, Dimitris, Evi, and the team were kind and very hospitable. I enjoyed it so much that I came back just a few days later. It seems plenty of guests have returned for years, and I’m already planning my next stay.

The garden and big swimming pool are stunning, and the spacious balconies were lovely. Our beds were really comfortable, and the rooms had the amenities we wanted: clean towels, shampoo and shower gel, a fully equipped bathroom, and a fridge. The TVs were small, but I never use them anyway. There’s a poolside bar with lots of drinks and snacks to choose from. Eva, the bartender, is a lovely, polite girl and great fun to be around. The family running the hotel always greeted us with a smile and made an effort to make us feel at home and part of the family. Thanks, Vaso and Jim, for your hospitality. Xenios Zeus would be flattered to be around you! Five stars for the whole experience. I’m sure I’ll visit again soon.

Mr. Dimitris and Mrs. Vasiliki are what make Villa Martha so wonderful. They’re welcoming, ready to help with anything you need, and really care about making your holiday better. The property feels like a little oasis of its own. All the rooms were very clean and had air conditioning and a TV. The Superior suites are especially spacious and look out over the gardens. Definitely recommend it.
