Maria Lambis Apartments

The pool was lovely and quiet, with no rush for sunbeds, and there’s a shaded bar by the pool for drinks and snacks. The gardens and flowers around the complex were lovely too. We stayed for 10 chilled days at Maria Lambis and thought it was a hidden gem. Our ground-floor studio was basic but comfortable, with a good shower and a nice balcony. The cleaners did a very good job. It’s a 10-minute walk to bars and restaurants, five minutes to bus stops for bigger towns, and two minutes to a small supermarket. We prepaid for breakfast and were happy with the eggs, meat, toast, cheese and yoghurt. The staff were all helpful, especially Nadia. There’s also a reception touchscreen with most of the information you’ll need. Thank you!

We had a lovely top-floor room with sea views spanning nearly 180 degrees. It was cleaned twice a week, and the shower was excellent, especially compared with the usual issues in Greek apartment blocks. The pool is small but quiet, in lovely flower-filled grounds, and the pool bar serves drinks, snacks and cocktails at reasonable prices. I’d stay again. By Greek self-catering standards, Maria Lambis Apartments were very good. The location suited us perfectly: a small underpass takes you beneath the main road and into Stallis, where there are plenty of tavernas, bars, shops and a beautiful beach. I’d read a TripAdvisor review worrying about inappropriate behaviour from bar staff because I had two 17-year-old girls with me, but the man who regularly served us at the small pool bar was polite and friendly.

The room itself was nice but basic, with clean, comfortable beds, a great shower, a decent-sized balcony and simple cooking gear: a two-ring hob and electric kettle. The beach and restaurants were five to ten minutes away on foot, and rooms were cleaned twice a week. The female receptionist and manager were friendly and helpful. Still, I wouldn’t stay again because checkout is at 10am and there’s no courtesy room to wash and change before a late transfer. We had a 7:30pm transfer and asked to keep our room, but because the hotel was full, they only offered it until 2pm for 25 euros. That didn’t work for us, so we paid for a room at a nearby hotel to spend the day at the beach and shower before flying home. Air conditioning costs 8 euros a day and the safe is 15 euros a week. These hotels make a fortune charging guests for basic amenities. We arrived very late and rang reception. The barman came from the bar, said, “one minute,” then went back to serve customers and stopped for a drink and chat. When I rang again, he snapped, “I said one minute.” He was unfriendly when I gave him all my printed paperwork and asked for an accommodation voucher. I explained that was all easyJet had provided. Eventually I pointed out the accommodation details, and he showed us to our studio. All told, it wasn’t a bad hotel.
