Cathrin Suites

We arrived having booked just two nights at Cathrin Hotel, but soon hoped to stay longer. Thankfully, the family running it, especially the two sisters, made that possible and made us feel so welcome. They were happy to help with anything. The rooms were spotless and well cared for, and the location and warm, relaxed atmosphere were lovely. For the extra nights we moved to their neighboring apartments, which were just as nice. The price was amazing for the kindness, comfort and value we got. We left rested and grateful, already thinking about coming back. Highly recommend it for a visit to Crete. I had a really enjoyable week in Stavros. The rooms were clean and lovely, the outdoor space was great, and the views were beautiful. It's very peaceful here, ideal if you want a quiet holiday. Renting a car makes exploring easier, and the accommodation arranged that as well as the airport shuttle. Everything was straightforward, and someone was always available.

It's okay if you're after a cheap place just to sleep. The host seemed very nice, though we barely interacted. I'd suggest having a car, since there are better beaches near Chania than in Stavros. There's a pool that looked nice, but we didn't get to use it, and Yiasemi is an excellent restaurant within walking distance. The place seemed much cozier in the photos than it did in person. The furniture is new, but the windows and doors are very old. The room was small, especially the bathroom, and its window couldn't be opened. With no sunlight or fresh air, a bad smell spread through the room. That window also faced a neighbor's balcony. No amenities were provided, which was an unpleasant surprise since we consider shower gel and shampoo standard in a three-star hotel. This was our fourth hotel in Crete, and the only one that didn't change our towels after two days. We used the same ones for all five days. The room was cleaned only on the third day, even though we'd put out a cleaning tag on each of the first two.

We had a great stay at the end of September. It's a lovely, quiet area for a family with kids, with a clean beach and a few good places to eat. The hotel is cozy, clean and nicely designed, and Owner Vasso is very friendly. The beach, restaurants and supermarket are all an easy five-minute walk away, making it a great spot for daily needs. Still, a car is recommended if you want to get more out of your holiday.
