Skamagkas G. Apartments

The hospitality at Skamagkas was off the scale. They regularly brought us fruit and vegetables from their garden. The apartments were clean, with a nice view across the gardens and mountains. We were looking for somewhere quiet for two weeks and found it. Most days we walked about 15 minutes, which we’re used to, to swim at one of the two very beautiful nearby beaches. We also took the bus to Chania and to the Botanical Gardens, both wonderful.

The owners, an older couple and their son, welcomed us so warmly that arriving felt like coming home to our grandparents. We’d arrived much too early, but the excellent room was ready right away. The modern kitchen and furnishings were great, and they greeted us with homemade cake and drinks. They also showed us their impressive garden and gave us fresh vegetables. Later we sat with them over a glass of raki. We’ve traveled a lot and have never felt such warmth and hospitality. It made our vacation special, and we were so sad to leave that we wished we could have stayed much longer. The owners are wonderful representatives of the Cretan people. We’d love to come back. Thank you for making our time so special. We absolutely recommend this accommodation.

A lovely, peaceful spot with a nice apartment and everything you might need. The welcome was so friendly that it felt like home as soon as we arrived. The supermarket and tavernas are only a 10-minute walk away, and Zorbas beach is another five minutes on foot. I’d definitely return.

The hosts were attentive and very helpful, and brought us treats, fruit from their garden, and Raki. The spacious apartment had everything we needed for a short stay. It’s handy for Stavros town and the beaches, though you really need a car to make the most of the location.
