Astra Village Hotel Suites

This was our second visit, and we’ve just got home after another lovely, restful week. Everyone on staff was friendly and ready to help. We had half board and enjoyed both meals, with some tasty traditional dishes at breakfast and dinner. Our room was spacious and very clean, and the garden and sea views from it were picturesque. We’ll definitely return again.

The place was really quiet, which suited us, and the cats and kittens around the grounds were lovely. I hope someone looks after them once the tourists have gone. We enjoyed our stay and would come back. The cleaners do a fantastic job everywhere. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Joanna, Irene and Mar in the restaurant, and Effy at reception. They were all amazing. The supervisor, though, wasn’t as helpful or polite. The food was nice, but vegetarians could use more hot choices at breakfast. We found the beds hard, though we know that’s personal preference, and mattress toppers would be useful. The bar and lounge could use ceiling fans to keep them cool. One thing to budget for: tourist tax is 10 euros per night, payable in cash on arrival. Our travel agent had told us it would be 7 euros.

We got home yesterday and already miss the place. It was our first trip to Greece, and we had such a good time. The staff were the part we’ll remember most, they were friendly and did so much to make our stay enjoyable. There were adorable cats around too, which made the days even nicer. The location worked really well, close to the airport. If you’re lucky, you can watch planes take off and land from the balcony, and we found it fun rather than disruptive. The air conditioning was great on hot days. Everything was clean and well looked after, and the accommodation was great. Breakfast and dinner were tasty with plenty of choice. We’d definitely recommend it.

We had no problems during our stay, and didn’t hear anyone else complain. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms are in separate blocks from the main building, from about 30 seconds to a few minutes’ walk away. Ours had what we needed, including a comfortable double bed, a walk-in double shower, toilet, sink, mirror, shaver socket, and a small sink for washing cups and glasses. The main building has reception, a bar, restaurant and the pool, plus a gym and spa. The restaurant is fairly small, so reception recommended booking a table. There’s just one pool and a limited number of sunbeds. With all the accommodation, I think you’d need to get up early for one in peak season. It’s very close to the airport, so the coach transfer takes only six minutes. But you are under the flight path. From our room we could see the end of the runway and planes waiting to take off. The noise wasn’t constant, but it was loud when it came. One day the receptionist had to stop talking until a plane passed. I don’t know what it’s like in high season. We visited at the end of September, as the season was winding down, so there was no evening entertainment. It’s a clean, tidy and pleasant place with really nice staff. Another ten minutes’ distance from the airport would have made the stay more enjoyable. I’m unsure whether I’d recommend it, and would probably not return. I think it could feel cramped in high season.
