Anamar Symi Residences

Following the management’s reply, I want to say I’d gladly share screenshots of our WhatsApp messages if I could. There’s nothing about the service that I appreciate. They kept bringing up positive feedback from former guests, but the Booking comments are clear. Everyone knows about these complaints and says the same things. This is a hospitality business, and based on that reply, you’re not suited to it. A defensive keyboard response isn’t the way to communicate with guests. I hope you learn from this and improve soon. The cold water issue was never fixed. We checked with 7 other properties on the island, and they didn’t have the same problem. Good luck with that defensive attitude. My original review: A real disappointment. There was no cold water in the bathroom, sink, or shower, so be prepared for an extremely hot shower in the middle of summer. They don’t leave shampoo unless you ask. On our first day there was also noisy maintenance at the property, and the owners said that was normal.

The balcony overlooking the bay of Symi and the romantic four-poster bed are lovely, and the place makes a grand first impression. But the staircase to the entrance is steep, uneven, and unlit, and the broken lamp above the door makes finding the keyhole difficult. There’s NO WIFI, and the lovely cleaner couldn’t help because the owner was unreachable. The fridge is too small for families, with room for only a couple of water bottles. A beautiful place to look at, but comfort is lacking. It is not 'Deluxe' and certainly isn’t worth 188€/night.

After one sleepless night, we had to leave Anamar Residences in Symi, even though we had booked two nights. This was a terrible experience. We don’t complain easily, but the accommodation is far below standard and shouldn’t be used as an apartment for five people. There was only one air conditioning unit, in the upstairs main bedroom. With that room’s door shut, it couldn’t cool the other bedrooms or living areas. Our son slept downstairs on a sofa that wasn’t even a sofa bed, and he had back pain today. There was no air conditioning downstairs either. The traffic noise went on all night, so we couldn’t open any windows. With poor ventilation and not enough cooling, the place felt extremely unhealthy. There are no curtains downstairs, so people walking by could see inside and the street and vehicle lights shone in, making it impossible to sleep. DO NOT STAY HERE!

The view and location were great, but the room didn’t live up to what I expected. It was clean and tidy, though it only had the basics and didn’t feel luxurious at all. The WiFi wasn’t working, and it was odd that there was no light in the main bedroom. It got very hot, so you had to keep the air conditioning running. But with cars constantly passing on the noisy road, even at night, sleeping with the windows or door open wasn’t an option.
