Maro Suites

We spent a wonderful August at Maro Suites and would happily come back. The owners' hospitality really stood out, and the service was superb. Around the property there are fruit trees, a vegetable garden, olive trees, and a grape vine. Tavronitis bay stretches out in the background with a panoramic view.

The owner was so warm and kind, and quietly cleaned the room and changed our bedding. She also treated us to homemade delicacies. We hadn't expected that kind of care at such a low price. The house sits in a colorful garden with olive and lemon trees and lots of flowers, and we had a great view from the terrace. It's handy for road trips around west Crete, close to the main road, beach, shops, and a few restaurants. Still, it felt peaceful, with the rooster and goats gently waking us in the morning.

I booked through Booking for a month, from late May to late June 2022, and prepaid. My search included the “Pets Allowed” filter, and this property came up as suitable. I planned to bring a cat that would stay inside the room. Other places are now mostly unavailable or much more expensive, after weeks have passed since I reserved. When I called today to ask about shifting the dates by two months, I was told they don't accept cats. The woman I spoke to said her mother is allergic, and I understood that her mother would be doing the cleaning. I can understand a person's allergy, but as a customer with vacation plans and a prepaid Booking reservation, I can't accept how unclear this has been.

The owner was really nice, and the place was charming and quiet with a lovely view. It had what we needed, from towels and a hair dryer to a filter coffee machine, laundry dryer, welcome snacks, and local drinks. The internet worked fine, and I could work outside on the terrace. Very clean too. I'd recommend it.
