Crossroads

Crossroads was an 8/10 for me. Being up the hill means you get a lovely sunrise over the city. In the female apartment dorm, there was no bedlight, and there never seemed to be enough hooks for clothes or other things. The shower head had to be held by hand, and without a curtain or divider, a little water got onto the floor. A mop for pushing it toward the floor grate would help. Also, the partition between the living room and kitchen and the bedroom didn’t go all the way up, so noise carried between them.

The hostel has a lovely view over the city and seaside, and the little attached café was a nice place to sit outside when the weather was good. It served coffee and alcoholic drinks, and there was also a kitchen and washing machine available. The owner and staff were extra helpful and friendly, and I had some really nice conversations with them. I like a calm, peaceful stay, and for a small place this was just right. The walk uphill could be hard for people with disabilities, though there’s a public bus that comes almost all the way. The Theodosian Walls and the castle are nearby. Some people sit out on the hillside at night to drink and have fun, especially on weekends.

I extended my stay because I loved the place so much, and it’s super affordable too. The kitchen has everything you need, including excellent coffee, and the beds are very comfortable and extremely clean. The location has the best view of the city, especially if you love sunrise or sunset. The staff were so kind, and the owner is a legend. It felt right at home, really cosy. I’d come back to the city just to stay here again.
