We'd booked one night through Booking.com, but when we arrived at the apartment at Olympiou diamanti 20, Thessalonike, the condition was nowhere near acceptable for even a single night. Entering the building was frightening. The stairway looked as if it might give way, and the floors were filthy with dust, dirt, and cobwebs. The bathroom and toilet were unsanitary. The bedding smelled bad, looked terribly worn and unwashed, and seemed sun-damaged or burnt. There were food stains on the dirty countertop, and the walls around it were badly soiled. Tape covered the TV. The listing said free parking, but there was none. The place gave us the impression of a homeless shelter and seriously affected how we felt about the city and accommodation. We expected the advertised standards, but the apartment was far from the photos.
