Egnatia Palace Hotel & Spa

A charming, beautiful hotel right in the center. The staff were friendly and very flexible about finding solutions, including arranging a parking space in front of the hotel. The coffee at breakfast was good, and room service prices were hard to beat.

The beds were the deal breaker for me. They felt like a rock when I lay down, but standing on one made it sink 7-8 cm. There was no getting comfortable. Breakfast was below par, with cherry tomatoes as the only fresh vegetable and no baked beans. Rock music blaring at 8 am made a calm, healthy breakfast impossible. Charging 1 euro to weigh luggage in a 4 star hotel also feels greedy, and is greedy. The room itself was clean and nice, the location was great, the staff friendly enough, and there’s a spa in the same building. Still, sleep is the main reason I use a hotel, and the beds were absolutely horrible.

The rooms are large, very stylish, and exceptionally well supplied: toothbrushes, toothpaste, cotton pads and buds, body lotion, shoe cleaner, sewing supplies, shampoo, body wash, towels, slippers, hand soap, and tea were all there. Staff were kind and trustworthy, breakfast was tasty, and the hotel is in an excellent location.

The location made it easy to explore the city, and the staff were genuinely lovely, from reception to the cleaners and bar staff. My room was very nice. The main nuisance was the small bath and shower doors that don’t extend all the way, so water splashed onto the sink and floor. My colleague’s twin room had a walk-in shower, which I would have preferred. There were no superior doubles available. Breakfast starts at 07:30, a bit late when you’re on a business trip and meetings elsewhere begin at 08:30. It was okay, with a little of everything, though the limited selection got repetitive after two days. Traffic from the busy street is audible, so very light sleepers might want earplugs. If you’re tired enough, it’s less noticeable.
