White Bottle Superior Apartments

Good location, clean, and the owner communicated very well. Paid parking is available nearby. The main issue is that there’s no door separating the shower and toilet from the rest of the room, which could be a big problem for some people.

The windows were so thin I could barely sleep, even with Loop earplugs. Apart from that, the place was clean and right in the city center, a great spot for seeing the main attractions without using public transport. It’s an Airbnb-style apartment building, and I got the check-in codes at the stated time. There’s no staff or reception, so I didn’t speak with anyone during my stay, though I noticed they changed the towels and took out the trash. No need to worry about breakfast: there’s a coffee shop outside with very good options, plus bakeries, other shops, and supermarkets about a 5-minute walk away.

The studio itself was clean, close to the center, and well equipped with a washing machine, coffee maker, Nespresso, microwave, kettle, and air conditioning. The bed was comfortable. But this is Airbnb-style accommodation with no staff to greet you or help if something goes wrong. We’d said we expected to arrive around 15:00, but couldn’t get into the room. It took about 40 minutes and several phone calls. The contact person didn’t understand English and was rude and dismissive. If getting in had gone smoothly, we’d have given five stars, but after eight hours of driving we were left sweating outside and our mood was ruined, so it’s a solid three. Check the photos: the shower is in the room behind a glass window, which is fine if you’re traveling as a couple, but the bathroom door is also only glass, so you can hear everything. Street parking is free, but we didn’t feel safe using it and paid for parking instead. The air conditioning smelled of vinegar.

The interior was done well, but the apartment was listed as one bedroom and turned out to be an open-plan studio. The amenities were sparse: no forks, just three glasses, and no oven, only a microwave with a grill. At 9pm, with a young baby, the offer of a refund if we left within 15 minutes was hardly workable. They later offered a free night somewhere else, which might have helped, but we’re traveling south now and couldn’t use it.
