Doras Beach Bungalow B

My family and I lost five days of vacation and a lot of money here. I would absolutely not recommend this house. The photos on Google looked fake, as if they’d been Photoshopped, and the price didn’t match what we got. The house felt very old and badly in need of renovation. The kitchen and bathroom were a nightmare, the floors were dirty and sticky, there was a trail of ants through the bathroom and across the kitchen table, and the plastic mat on the shower floor had mold and soap scum all over it. The electrical supply was another serious problem. We lost power twice in four days. After the second outage, an electrician told me the house was very old and its supply too small to run the air conditioner, small microwave and water heater at the same time without a blackout. The microwave was a portable one, not the full-size oven shown in the Google photos. When the power went out on the first day, there was no water in the kitchen, shower or bathroom because the house is supplied by an outdoor water pump. It took several calls before the owners answered. They tried to guide us to the electrical panel to check which breakers had tripped, which was a red flag. The Wi-Fi was very poor too. With the safety concerns, ants and mold, sticky floors, and unreliable electricity and running water, stay away from this property.

Dora and Stefano were so lovely and quick to help when we’d forgotten the key box code. They also gave us restaurant suggestions and tips for places to visit. We were surprised by how warm the Greek people are, and we’ve fallen in love with Greece. We’ll definitely be back, Jeroen, Sem and Annemiek. We stayed in Dora's house A, one of two neighboring houses. It has two living rooms, a small kitchenette and two bedrooms. The room with two beds has air conditioning. There’s a lovely garden with fruit and vegetables, and something delicious from it was waiting for us when we arrived. There’s plenty of space, and the area is quiet, with a supermarket, restaurants and a cozy harbor nearby. The beach is just 50 meters away. The downsides for me were that there’s only one air conditioner in the whole house, the sink is low, and I missed having a lounger. There are plenty of loungers on the beach, though. I also saw an earlier review photo from Susi Sonnenschein showing a door with one lock, but there’s another door behind it with two locks.

Awful experience. The house didn’t match the pictures at all, and I didn’t feel safe there. If zero stars had been an option, I would have given that. Stay away.

A basic beachfront bungalow at a bargain price. The sandy beach at Tsilivi is an easy walk away.
