Park Hotel & Spa - Adults Only

The pool was clean and the staff were friendly, but the manager wasn't great. On arrival our room was ready, but the view was just bushes, so we asked to move and had to pay 70 euro. Breakfast was basic, and the pool bar served the same food every day with no menu changes. We also had to pay before receiving food, which I'd never come across in a hotel. There was no entertainment at all. It's about a 20-minute walk to town. The beach shuttle was a van that fit only six people and ran twice a day, either 10.30 to 2 or 2 to 6.30 in the evening. You had to book it.

George on reception was fab, and the staff serving at the bar were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the clean pools and comfortable sunbeds, and the bar had plenty of seating for meals and relaxing, with a good choice of food and snacks. The drinks were premium brands, with happy hour each evening from 6-8. Our deluxe twin room was functional and had a balcony. We didn't have a pool view, but liked the extra privacy. The Park hotel is in a convenient, quiet spot, an easy walk from the busier town and its many bars and restaurants. Some of the payment rules left a bad taste. We had to pay for everything upfront, and couldn't charge it to the room by showing our key, as is standard in most hotels. Ketchup and mayonnaise cost an extra 1.50 euros, despite being freely available at breakfast an hour earlier. Nuts with drinks were only served strictly after 6pm during 'Happy Hour', which really meant a 2 euro discount. It was more amusing than happy, and guests talked about it with a lot of eye rolling. It wasn't really about the money, but the policy made people feel untrusted. I wonder what the owners or management's reasoning is. We never saw any sign of a manager all week, perhaps they were in an office rationing nuts and ketchup. We enjoyed our stay, but I'm not sure we'd recommend it or return.

The missing bracelet put a downer on what had otherwise been a good holiday. It was a silver diamond bracelet my parents had given me for my birthday. We kept everything in the safe, but on our last full day we were rushing to go on a boat trip from 7:45am till 5pm, and I forgot to put it away. When we got back, the cleaning staff had been in. I showered and got ready for the evening, then noticed it was gone from the side where I'd left it. Reception asked the cleaning staff to look for it, but even after I emailed from home, I got no response. Apart from that, it's a lovely hotel. I was going to rate it excellent, but please keep everything you can in your safe.

George, the Ghanian Legend, greeted us when we stayed from 2/9 to 9/9. The staff were friendly, attentive and very helpful. The pool was nice and quiet during the day, and breakfast had a good selection. Shout out to Maria, who can knock up an omelette in about 12 seconds flat, always with a smile. You can tell she loves her role. The location was great, about 10 minutes' walk to the local bars and restaurants and 15-20 minutes to the beach. Our room was clean and quite spacious. I'd stay again!
