Piedra Villa

Villa Piedra feels wonderfully private, with the nearest neighbours miles away. From the balcony, we had a gorgeous mountain view and could see the sea in the distance. Its beautiful approach even makes tourists slow down for a closer look. Most beaches are only 15-20 minutes away, so it's a great base for exploring the island. The pool was sublime, clean, and just the right temperature. It was cleaned every other day and stayed clean, though I’d suggest leaving a net out so guests can remove bugs. Pool and bath towels were provided, there was plenty of comfortable poolside seating, and shaded spots too. The landscaping is amazing, and the owner clearly tends the plants regularly. The swings and slide for kids were a pleasant surprise. Inside, the furnishings are comfortable and neutral, with an authentic rustic feel. Each room and bedroom suite has its own theme. Everything felt well thought out, from the open-plan living area and games table to the full kitchen and separate barbecue house with its own sink and dining table. Screens on every door and window let in the breezes while keeping bugs out. Every bedroom has AC, the lounge has fans, and the closets and bathrooms are spacious enough to settle in. The private chapel is a must-see. The owners have created a truly unique experience. The villa is exactly as pictured on the website, with no trick photography. One small drawback is the side road entrance rather than the main gate. It’s steep, difficult to exit, and could use resurfacing. The owners are Greek, so we needed some translation, and we had to ask for a cleaning and plant-care schedule, which they promptly provided. Those were minor teething issues and didn’t get in the way of an amazing holiday.
