Alkyon Resort Hotel & Spa

The room was okay, but the spa setup brought the whole stay down. We were there in May 2026 and found out the heated pool shuts at 3:30 every day for private swimming lessons for children. The separate jacuzzi, sauna and steam room cost €10 per person, something I hadn't seen mentioned when booking, and staff need 1.5 hours' notice to switch them on. Starting at 3:30 means you'll hear the kids' lessons overhead while trying to relax. I wouldn't book in the off-season, September to May. To me, it's a three-star hotel charging four-star prices, and not somewhere to choose for a spa break.

I came for a meeting with project partners from around the Mediterranean, and the hotel had a close-knit, almost home-like feel that I hadn't expected to enjoy so much. It's set in the countryside among citrus farms by the shore, with an Italian countryside atmosphere. Staff were polished, professional and genuinely glad to help, always friendly and smiling. The Wi-Fi was easy to use without a password, and the speed was good. There’s a restaurant, spa, gym and both indoor and outdoor pools. My room's showerhead holder was crooked, though it barely affected my stay. Hot water was always available, with excellent pressure. I had a lovely time and hope to return for a holiday.

Breakfast was a bright spot: the made-to-order pancakes and omelets were very good, and the restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. The rest left me wondering how this is called a five-star hotel. The rooms feel stuck in the 80s or 90s, and the beds were so hard I could feel the springs. Shower pressure was practically nonexistent. The bathroom had a huge commercial toilet paper roll, which felt pretty funny for a luxury place. There was no bellhop to take our luggage up and no valet. We checked in at 3 p.m. and learned the indoor pool would be closed from 4 to 8 that day, even though it was the main reason I chose the hotel for an off-season trip when outdoor swimming wasn't an option. The sauna, hot tub and steam room also cost an extra €10 per person per visit. Maybe high season is different, but I'm not coming back to check.

Breakfast had plenty to choose from, and the pancakes were incredible. Our room was spacious and warm, with a big, comfortable bathroom. The grounds were beautiful and clearly well cared for. Everyone on staff was so polite, attentive and ready to help, especially the lovely women in the spa. We'll definitely come back.
