Manolia Studios

I needed somewhere for one night while I was in Kefalonia, and Elias was extremely kind to take me in and offer me a room that was free. Manolia Studios was perfect for what I needed. I arrived at night, and the pool was beautifully lit. Elias was watering the grounds and getting ready for the next morning. He was lovely and chatty. My apartment was clean and had everything I needed: a good working shower, cool air conditioning, a kitchenette and a fridge. The bed had crisp white sheets that felt so fresh after a nice cool shower. I could see the pool and the sea towards Zakynthos. Thanks, Elias. I’ll stay again when I come back to Kefalonia.

If you’re after inexpensive, basic lodging, this place may do. The owner and the view earned my two stars. There’s a bed, toilet, sink and small kitchenette, though I wouldn’t touch the kitchenette. We were grateful for the toilet paper. The only soap was a half-used bottle of liquid soap. The air conditioner blew on us all night. The room was clean, but not especially clean, and I may be particularly alert to cleanliness these days. There was a form saying they follow clean COVID requirements, which I doubt. Some reviews promise “tons to do within walking distance,” but there’s actually just a mini mart and a restaurant. Both are useful in an otherwise residential neighborhood, but a mini mart isn’t entertainment to me. By “tons to do,” I’d expect things like shops, cafés, art galleries, museums or water-skiing.

Everything was more than adequate, and the room was clean and neat. With the temperature so high, it was great that the bedding was changed regularly. The pool was sparkling clean, and the owner was always friendly, helpful and attentive. I’d recommend this place and will be back.

The owners are AWESOME, and it’s a beautiful place to stay. There’s loads to do within walking distance, plus a gorgeous pool with sun loungers around it.
