Hotel Avra

The breakfast was excellent, and we needed somewhere close to the port, so the location worked well. From the balcony we could see the sea and port. The air conditioner was right there on the balcony, which surprised me 🤯. You also have to step over a high threshold to get outside, and I was scared I’d trip and fall 🤯😰. At least there’s an elevator, since climbing to the third floor without one would’ve felt scary.

We stayed here because our ferry was the next morning. The port is only about 300 m away, so it does exactly what you need from a hotel for that purpose.

We arrived very late at night, but the reception staff were still helpful and welcoming. They were polite, attentive, and even gave us a handy map of the city and nearby area. The rooms were very clean and good value, and the central spot beside the port meant we could walk to plenty of places. I’d happily stay here again.

The location was nice, though plenty of much better hotels are in good locations too. The staff and management were friendly, to be fair. Inside, though, it felt like stepping back 40 years. The room was dirty, the towels were torn, and there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke throughout. The balcony door was stuck, and the pillows were about as wide as a sports newspaper. We couldn’t find another room for the night, but after staying here I think sleeping in the car might have been better. Curious enough?
